Easy To Grow Meyer Lemons Are Delicious and Sweet

Meyer lemons is the sweetest lemon of all of the lemons you can get. It is a cross between an orange and a lemon. They are easy to grow and low maintenance. They can be grown in a pot or in the ground. Outside in the ground is for zones 9 – 11. It is best to plant them outside in the early spring.

They can be grown as a shrub or as a tree. When grown in a pot it will grow to accommodate the size of the pot. The shrub when groomed into a tree can grow to be over ten feet tall when planted in the ground.

Meyer lemon trees need lots of full sun and some shade during the day. A south to the southwest facing window is the best for the best sunlight. They need at least eight full hours of sun a day. They need a soil that drains well. It grows best in temperatures that are between 50 degrees and 80 degrees.

They need a humidity level of at least 50 percent. This can easily be taken care of if the humidity level in your house is less than that. All you have to do is fill a tray with rocks and add water to just below the top of the rocks. Set the tray under the pot and it will help with the humidity that the plant receives.

Let the fruit ripen on the tree until it is the color of an egg yolk and is slightly soft to the touch. Use a knife or scissors to cut off the fruit so it does not damage the tree. Click on Citrus Trees for more ideas.
